FoodCycle Hackney is a place for local people to enjoy a free nutritious meal in a friendly environment, and to meet new people. Hackney is badly in need of an initiative like FoodCycle to help tackle food poverty in the borough.
We are currently running our Cook and Collect takeaway service. Ifyou would like a free, nutritious cooked meal, you can come and collect every Thursday between 12:30pm – 1:30pm.
Due to government guidelines, there will be no seating at the venue and all food must be taken away to eat. We hope to return to our community meals as soon as we can.
FoodCycle Hackney opened its doors to guests in January 2015. We have brilliant volunteers, amazing guests and cook up delicious meals made from surplus. It’s a place to come and have fun, as well as meet new people in your local community
We are very grateful to Hackney Homes, and London Borough of Hackney who have given us the space and been a great support in the project so far.
Volunteer
The Project is only made possible with the great volunteers giving their time, enthusiasm and energy. We have opportunities available for people to come along and cook, host guests and be involved in collecting the surplus food donations from local suppliers. Volunteer Here
You don’t need to have any previous cooking experience, although if you do that is just as welcome! We want as many local volunteers as possible and everyone is welcome to be a part of FoodCycle Hackney.
