The community of East Acton is soon to benefit from a weekly, three-course community meal with FoodCycle, with help from a local social enterprise run by a brilliant bunch of children.
FoodCycle East Acton will open its doors on Sunday 15th July at 2 pm to serve a free meal at the Old Oak Community and Children’s Centre.
The project is running in partnership with Bubble & Squeak, a group of entrepreneurial children from West London who are fighting food waste by selling surplus food in the school playground and to the local community
Bubble & Squeak are supporting FoodCycle East Acton by providing an innovative storage solution in the form of a crowd-funded shipping container!
Eleanor Harrington of Bubble & Squeak says: “Bubble & Squeak is delighted to offer it’s crowdfunded shipping container at Old Oak Primary School as storage for FoodCycle’s newest Sunday session.
The partnership is a great opportunity to pool resources between Old Oak Centre, Old Oak Primary School and FoodCycle. It ties in brilliantly with the Bubble & Squeak children’s core mission to work together to make a change in our local community – powered by surplus food!”
