FoodCycle Durham has been running since 2010 and every Wednesday evening we serve delicious food at Sanctuary 21, a local Salvation Army centre. We are a mixture of Durham University students and local residents, working in partnership with the university colleges, local churches, and our local Transition Towns organisation.

Each week we collect surplus ingredients from the very generous Durham Indoor Market, Robinsons on North Road, Ciao Ciao bakery and Flat White cafe (thank you!). We then come together to plan, create and serve a nutritious meal for our guests from Durham and the surrounding area.

You don’t need to have any previous cooking experience, although if you do that is just as welcome! We want as many local volunteers as possible and everyone is welcome to be a part of our meal.

We’re also looking for more people who are interested in leading volunteer teams and promoting FoodCycle Durham locally to join our Project Leader team – find out more about being a Project Leader and get in touch on [email protected] for more information.
