The FoodCycle Movement.
FoodCycle combines young volunteers, surplus food and a free kitchen space to create nutritious meals and positive social change in the community!
The idea is simple. Food retailers throw out millions of tons of edible food every year due to supply overstock. The aim of FoodCycle is to redirect this food so it can be used to cook nutritious meals for people in the local community that do not have access to healthy foods for a variety of reasons, such as lack of income or knowledge of healthy nutrition.
The Result?
Personal health and well-being increase with proper nutrition, food waste is reduced, and young volunteers create positive change in their communities!

FoodCycle started in September 2008 when Kelvin heard about the Campus Kitchen Project in the United States. Finding out more about the food poverty and food waste that was happening in the UK and how little was being done, Kelvin decided to take action on this and start a movement that empowered local communities to tackle these issues.
Starting with pilot Hubs at Imperial College London and the London School of Economics, the simple model has been spread far and wide in the UK. Our success has been aided by the generous support and advice given by other organisations such as MyBnk, READ International, FareShare and CIVA.
These are exciting times for us, as we grow we look forward to continue to inspire others in the country to take up our cause.
